The life and habits of the residents of Tataresti village of Straseni district, from the first attestation of the settlement in 1528 until the beginning of the 1990s, are described in a documentary entitled “Tataresti”. The film was presented to packed houses at the National Library “Vasile Alecsandri” in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The film’s producer Gheorghe Marzenco said the documentary bears the name of the settlement where he was born. It deals with the Soviet occupation of the village in 1812, the Great Union of 1918 and the destinies of people subject to political deportation and repression in the 1940s. The film also tells the fate of the personalities from the village, where they are now and what they achieved.
Gheorghe Marzenco said that another documentary about the events that marked Moldova’s history in 1990-2000 is projected to be premiered next March.
The documentary “Tataresti” was made with the financial support of the Cultural Romanian Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau. Its head Valeriu Matei said the film, based on the testimony of time, managed to relate the tragic past not only of the village, but also of the entire Bessarabia.
