More than 200 doctors and nurses from nine districts of Moldova have been taught to help pregnant women and women with children during natural disasters. Mihai Pasla, the head of the National Calamity Medicine Center, has told Info-Prim Neo that these groups of persons are twice more vulnerable during calamities. That’s why they need professional assistance.
There were set up three groups of trainers who traveled to the country’s districts, especially those affected by this summer’s floods. The seminar included two stages – the theoretical part and the practical one. It centered on the provision of medical assistance in high-risk situations caused by climatic factors. “There were addressed such issues as the health of the mother, pregnant women, teenage girls, and children of early age, the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS and violence-related problems,” said Mihai Pasla.
The seminar was organized by the National Calamity Medicine Center and the United Nations Population Fund in Moldova.
