The State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu” (USMF) conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa on two more graduates of the institution – vice director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Greifswald Medical School Alexandru Mustea and director of the Iasi Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases “Prof. Dr. George I. M. Georgescu” Grigore Tinica, IPN reports.

In the award ceremony, USMF rector Ion Ababii said that Alexandru Mustea in time offered support to the young specialists of the University and contributed to developing the relations in medical education between Moldova and Germany. “Professor Mustea is a model for the medical students. He is an example showing that each graduate of our University, by insistent work and devotion, can obtain national and international recognition,” he stated.

Attending the event to confer the title on Alexandru Mustea, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the work done by the new Doctor Honoris Causa is a noble one. He could have developed a career at home, but chose a more difficult path and became a personality in the most developed and complex system, that of Germany. The Premier assured that the governmental team will continue to take steps to modernize the national health system so that the young health professionals can work in European conditions at home.

In the event to confer the title on Grigore Tinica, Moldovan surgeon Gheorghe Ghidirim, university professor, said that this did many good things for the Moldovan people. “Being a polyvalent personality with considerable intellect and creative energy, Professor Grigore Tinica is permanently looking for something new, for perfection. He was involved in multiple internships as he aims to improve his qualities of cardiac surgeon,” he stated.

Ion Ababii said the title of Doctor Honoris Causa was awarded to Grigore Tinica both for his prodigious work at national and foreign levels and for his considerable contribution to establishing and promoting relations of cooperation between the USMF “Nicolae Testemitanu” and the Iasi University of Medicine “Gr. T. Popa”.
