Doctor Iacob Păpușoi, who worked at the Cimișlia District Hospital, lost the battle with COVID-19. He died several days after his wife Maria Păpușoi, who was also a doctor, succumbed to COVID-19, IPN reports.
“We offer our condolences to the family, relatives and the close ones in connection with the dramatic fate of the family,” the staff of the Cimișlia District Hospital says in a message, noting Iacob Păpușoi worked for over 40 years in the district health system.
Maria Păpușoi also served for over 40 years as pediatrician-endoscopist.
More than 29,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Moldova so far. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 880. Over 30 of the victims are healthcare workers.
