A therapist of the Comrat District Hospital was given a two-year suspended sentence for violating, out of negligence, the rules or methods of providing medical assistance that resulted in the death of a child, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, on June 25, 2018, being on guard, the doctor didn’t examine appropriately a five-month old child who was taken to the hospital with an acute viral infection and didn’t hospitalize this. Consequently, the boy died in several hours as his respiratory and cardiovascular systems were affected.
Examinations showed the death could have been avoided if the child had received treatment immediately. When being questioned, the 45-year-old doctor, who had worked for a year at the Comrat District Hospital, pleaded not guilty.
The sentence is not yet final.
