“We have supported and will support the steps undertaken by Moldova's leadership to restore the constitutional order. It's important that Moldova should develop as an independent state, prosperous and happy,” said Russian president Dimitry Medvedev, at his meeting with Moldova's Vladimir Voronin on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We have closely followed the events happening in Moldova and we are sorry for these processes,” Medvedev is quoted by RIA-Novosti as saying.
Vladimir Voronin has said: “We are very grateful that, during these hard days of political instability in our country, Russia is the first, and I think the only, to express support to the lawful leadership of Moldova.” Voronin has added Moldova much appreciates Russia's clear and prompt position.
The statements were made in the wake of the talks on the snap elections in Moldova on July 29.
Media report Voronin traveled to Moscow to ask for a loan, but this information has not been officially confirmed. When asked about this issue, Moldovan deputy premier Igor Dodon said: “We have to wait and soon all the details will be known.” “Now nothing can and must be ruled out, since launching an infrastructure project creates a chain effect,” Dodon said on Monday in the morning.
