The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) considers that the March 5 no confidence vote against the Government was a vote against Moldova’s European future. Such an assessment is contained in a statement issued by the National Political Council of the PLDM, which was quoted by Info-Prim Neo. In a meeting on March 10, the Council discussed the current political situation, including the dismissal of the Filat Government and the party’s actions in the near future. “The PLDM believes that the March 5 vote against the AEI government was a vote against the country’s European future. The dismissal of the Cabinet generates more problems than solutions to everything that concerns the implementation of the government program that was fully assumed by the components of the ruling alliance. Those who voted for the censure motion endangered the European integration process that means the modernization and transformation of Moldova, foreign financial and political support, and the only viable alternative for building a functional political, economic and social system,” reads the statement. The PLDM says it will make everything possible to give the negotiations a constructive tone so as to create a parliamentary majority that will ensure the continuation of the reform processes and the country’s European course. The party expresses its readiness to contribute to the formation of a pro-European government coalition. “The PLDM asks the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party to designate groups of negotiators in order to make a pro-European ruling alliance. The negotiations should be based on: efficient government, the people’s interest, depoliticization of the institutions designed to protect the rule of law, the basic rights and fundamental freedoms, and the market economy,” says the statement. On March 5, 2013, the Communist opposition in Parliament and the Democratic lawmakers passed a censure motion, giving the Government headed by the Lib-Dem Vlad Filat a vote of no confidence.
