The discussions on the joint participation in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 that were initiated by the Liberal Party (PL), the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the electoral bloc ACUM, formed by the Party “Action and Solidarity” and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, will continue this week. Contacted by IPN, vice president of the PL Valeriu Munteanu said they are working on the mechanisms for strengthening the capacities for coordinated participation in the elections. “We will definitely meet tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Everyone will come with the done homework and we will see how we can move on,” stated the politician.

Asked if the PL will present an eventual list of candidates,  Valeriu Munteanu said a list will be provided at the next stage. “Until then we must agree the participation mechanism. As far as we know, the PLDM is also not year ready in this regard,” stated the vice president of the PL.

After the meeting held on November 5, the PL, PLDM, PAS and PPPDA announced that they could have common candidates in the 51 single-member constituencies in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019.The PAS and PPPDA, which already formed a bloc for the elections, insist that all the candidates should go through integrity and meritocracy filters.

After the meeting of the National Political Council of the PLDM held on November 11, the party’s vice president Ion Terguță stated for IPN that the Liberal Democratic Party wants to take part in the parliamentary elections of next February by itself, but, given the sociopolitical situation in Moldova, it is also considering the possibility of running in a bloc alongside other parties. A final decision that would help Moldova get rid of dictatorship and authoritarianism will be taken the coming days.
