Disciplinary proceedings will be brought against the former acting head of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crimes and Special Cases Dorin Compan following the inspections carried out at this institution and at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (APO) last month. Then, Dorin Compan was transferred back from the Prosecutor’s Office for Special Cases to his post of prosecutor at the APO, IPN reports.
After the meeting of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo told the press that the disciplinary proceedings against Dorin Compan will be instituted next week.
Asked if a criminal case was started against former anticorruption prosecutors Adriana Bețișor and Andrei Băeșu, Alexandr Stoianoglo said that several criminal cases were initiated at the PGO, but he cannot reveal the names of the implicated prosecutors. He noted that more prosecutors are involved.
“Most of the prosecutors are suspected of abuse of power and falsification of documents. We do not raise the question of arrests. This derives from the case,” stated the official, noting it is not known if the prosecutors who investigated the bank fraud are in Moldova or not, but these must present themselves whenever they are summoned.
Alexandr Stoianoglo confirmed that acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu took legal action against Democratic MP Sergiu Sîrbu three months ago. He learned about this criminal case recently and does not know what the MP is suspected of. He does not yet intend to go to Parliament and ask for permission to arrest him, as it was rumored.
When asked by journalists, the prosecutor general also spoke about the suit filed by the leader of the PPPDA Andrei Năstase to the PGO, by which it is demanded to prosecute President Igor Dodon for acts of corruption and unjust enrichment. According to him, the PGO is not an inspection body, but a prosecution body. When the complaint is examined, this will be directed to the competent bodies. If irregularities are identified, the prosecutors will take action.
