The Moldovan delegation at the Joint Control Commission (JCC) has expressed its concern regarding the latest developments in the Security Zone, caused by provocations from Tiraspol, IPN reports.
The Moldovan delegation announced via a press release that the JCC delegations had differing opinions about the provocation of Transnistrian forces at the beginning of February, when the director and two employees of the “Lucian Blaga” Lyceum in Tiraspol had been arrested. At the JCC meeting, ultimatum-like proposals have been put forward, distorting the proposals of the Moldovan side and downplaying the incident, reads the release.
The commission also discussed about the Transnistrian side's unjustified restriction of the access of military observers to the spot of the incident, which subsequently led to a lack of reaction from the JCC to the abuses committed by Tiraspol forces. “These facts negatively affect the working of the peacekeeping mechanism, impeding the examination of the current situation and the management of conflicts and incidents in the Security Zone”, says the release.
Because of the lack of consensus regarding these issues, it was agreed to continue the discussion at the ordinary meeting on February 20.
