Children from family type children's homes and the professional parent assistance service as well as the deprived families will benefit from lump sum payments on the International Children's Day, marked on June 1, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family.
A sum of 5.6 million lei was allocated from the national social support fund for the purpose.
The lump sums will be distributed to disadvantaged families through the agency of the local social support funds. The administration councils will decide the groups of beneficiaries and the size of the lump sum. The relevant public commissions working under mayors' offices will select the beneficiaries from among non-institutionalized children, invalid children, and large and one-parent families.
In the municipality of Chisinau, lump sums will be given to orphans who are finishing the ninth, eleventh and twelfth grades. About 376 million lei will be used from the local budget in this respect.
The lump sum payments will total approximately 6 million lei, up 0.2 million lei compared with last year. More than 26,000 deprived families with children benefited from similar assistance in 2010.
