The second national festival of arts and professional orientation for disabled persons, orphans and children from vulnerable families opened in Moldova on April 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. The festival has two phases. The district and town stages will be held during the first phase between April 15 and May 15. The winners will participate in the Gala Concert and the final exhibition that will be held in Chisinau at the end of May and will be dedicated to the International Children’s Day. The organizers aim to identify talented persons and engage them in activities that will help them develop their creativity and professional skills. By these activities, the disabled are encouraged to overcome their complexes of “prisoner” – a complex typical of the persons with disabilities from childhood. The organizers also want to sensitize the public opinion to the problems faced by the disabled so as to facilitate their adaptation and social integration. Persons and artistic groups (instrumental music, canto, computer graphics, plastic arts, decorative arts, choreography, etc.) and persons with disabilities whose profession is connected with the arts (hairdresser, manicurist, jeweler, sculptor in wood and birch tree bark, ceramist, carpet weaver, etc.) will take part in the festival. All the finalists will be awarded participation diplomas and symbolic gifts from the organizational committee and special prizes from the founders and public organizations. The festival is organized by the Invalids Association EGIDA in concert with the central and local authorities working in such areas as social protection of the population, culture, education, tourism and ecology, nongovernmental organizations and other institutions and companies that expressed willingness to participate in the festival.
