Disabled children can be integrated into society, if they are offered the chance to show themselves and there is much affection and love both from psycho-teachers and from family members, and also from whole society, say specialists from the Pilot-Project of Curing Pedagogy Orfeu from Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The disabled children studying at the this complex celebrated five years since founding the institution, on Wednesday, May 14 mai. For five years, the children have enjoyed special training methods through which they can be integrated into society. Psycho-therapist Silvia Topala says the curing pedagogy is based on the principle of integrating the children with mental and locomotor deficiencies into society by involving them into different activities allowing them to develop their feelings, thinking, analysis skilled and, in some cases, even to better their locomotor deficiencies. The children can participate their in different activities as dancing, painting, carpentry, sewing, embroidery, music etc. Given the hard work of the doctors, teachers and the professors of technological education, most of the graduating pupils – girls with different severe deficiencies – managed to sew the graduating party clothes all by themselves. The boys record similar successes in sewing. The institution hosts children with extremely severe disabilities as the Down syndrome, epilepsy, autism, mental retardation, and children with locomotor handicaps. Silvia Topala says all those children can be integrated into society, moreover, they can be prepared to start working. Alexandra Dascal, the deputy manager of the complex, has told Info-Prim Neo the institution works according to a special program for children with mental deficiencies. Unlike the boarding schools, where many children study in the same class, as the teachers cannot supervise all of them, the Orfeu complex's class have eight children at most. The institution functions as an orphanage. There children who have to stay over the night because they cannot walk. Now the center is attended by about 200 children.
