The European Union is ready to provide assistance to the businesses of the Transnistrian region so that they modernize themselves and meet the demands of the European market, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said in the third Investment Forum held in Tiraspol, IPN reports.
According to “Novyi Region” Agency, the EU Ambassador said that the free trade regime between Moldova and the EU may start to be applied from next year. He voiced hope that this regime will not stop on the Nistru and it will open new export possibilities for the economic entities of the region. Dirk Schuebel stated that many companies will have to modernize the production process so as to meet the European standards.
The Ambassador also said that the preferential regime for exporting to the EU can be extended until 2015 for some of the Transnistrian companies. This decision was taken at the request of Transnistrian businessmen, but this regime will be terminated at the end of 2015.
A new rotund of talks on the Deep and Compressive Free Trade Agreement will be held on June 10-14.
