The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office announced that the director of the company “Decons-Impex Grup” SRL was convicted of appropriation, swindle and swindle attempt. He misappropriated the funds allocated to the company he managed for repairing the building of the National Opera House, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the prosecutors established that the culprit in 2006-2007 appropriated 2.3 million lei, causing thus considerable damage to the state budget.
The case was sent by prosecutors to court in 2009. The Buiucani Court found the director of the given company guilty and sentenced him to 14 years in jail. It also obliged the offender to pay back the appropriated money. The defendant was arrested in the courtroom.
The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
