Ion Iovcev, principal of the Tiraspol Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” and the institution’s accountant and driver were arrested by the Transnistrian security forces near Parcani village that is located not far from Tiraspol.

The lyceum’s deputy director Raisa Padurean announced that the three are accused of smuggling. Octavian Mahu, press officer of the Reintegration Office, has told IPN that the central authorities were informed about the arrest and the case is being dealt with by the delegation of Chisinau to the Joint Control Commission.

“At the teachers’ request, they went after the salary. Now they are accused of smuggling on the territory of Transnistria. The salaries of teachers mean contraband for them. This is another proof of the terror to which the teachers and students in the region are subject. Their phones are being jammed,” stated Raisa Padurean.

The Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” is one of the eight Moldovan-administered Latin-scrip schools working in the Transnistrian region.
