The hospitals involved in the fight against COVID-19 are close to the limit, especially the municipal clinical hospital “Saint Trinity”, where the number of admitted persons is higher than the officially allowed level. Oleg Crudu, director of the COVID -19 triage center Chisinau and also of “Saint Trinity” hospital, said that a shortage of places available at the hospitals of the capital city has been witnessed the last few days, IPN reports.

“Currently, we can say that we experience a rather dramatic scenario and the places at hospitals are occupied. Each evening, we have to distribute patients from the COVID center to hospitals as we have faced problems with hospitalization the last few days. We are close to the limit. Initially, we had 170 beds for persons with COVID-19, but now have 220 beds and 238 patients and 29 of them are in a serious or very serious state and depend on a ventilator,” stated Oleg Crudu.

According to the doctor, the situation in the municipality of Chisinau is rather serious and the health system works to the limit of its capacities. In this connection, Oleg Crudu called on the people to behave responsibly. “We ask them to help us save them. It is problematic”.

Deputy mayor of Chisinau municipality Angela Kutasevici said the infection rate is extremely high: over 750 infected persons per 100,000 people.

“Each day, we see the cases of COVID-19 increasing in number. Regrettably, we also have many associated deaths. The hospitalization possibilities and capacities are decreasing. That’s why the people should already realize the danger and obey the measures recommended by the authorities, primarily by doctors,” stated the functionary.

According to the data provided by Agela Kutasevici, there are now 9,696 active cases of COVID-19 in Chisinau. About 800 persons are being treated in hospitals, while 27,400 persons are receiving treatment for mild forms at home. As many as 723 persons have died in the capital city since the start of the pandemic.
