The director general and the vice director of the state-owned enterprise Air Moldova will appear before judges on charges of abuse of office. The criminal case was started in March 2021 based on a denouncement, IPN reports.
The director general and the vice director of the airline are accused of causing damage to the public law legal entity in considerable amounts when signing the wet-lease contract of May 17 , 2018, namely to the state represented by the Public Property Agency. The damage was estimated at over 36.6 million lei. Damage was also caused to the private law legal entity SRL Air Moldova, with this being assessed at over 83.3 million lei.
According to prosecutors, the accused didn’t accept blame. The case was sent to the Buiucani Court of Chisinau for examination.
The two face a fine of 23,500 to 57,500 lei or at most three years in jail.
Also, in order to recover damages, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office together with the Public Property Agency and the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency sequestrated goods and assets owned by the accused, situated in Moldova and abroad, to the value of 12.2 million lei.
