The national men’s volleyball championship involves now only six teams as current champion Dinamo MAI Chisinau withdrew from the competition.

Dinamo MAI wants to play in a more powerful championship. The team’s administration is holding negotiations with the volleyball federations of Romania and Ukraine, coach Valentin Pereu has told IPN.

“The team decided to withdraw from the championship because the investments aren’t justified. In Moldova the championship is very weak. We play only two worthy matches per season, both against Dinamo Tiraspol.”

In order to cope in the championship of Romania or Ukraine, Dinamo MAI signed three Ukrainian players from Lokomotiv Kiev.

The team won Moldova’s championship two times and Moldova’s Cup also two times.
