Dimitriana Surdu becomes Balkans champion

Athlete Dimitriana Surdu became Balkan champion in weight throw in Istanbul. Vadim Hranovschi’s pupil achieved the result of 18.11 meters, IPN reports.

Dimitriana Surdu has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. She is to now compete in the European Throwing Cup in the Portuguese city of Leiria. The other leaders of Moldovan athletics, Zalina Petrivskaya, Sergey Marghiev and Andrian Mardare, will also compete there.

Istanbul hosts the Balkan Indoor U20 Championships. Nina Căpățînă (weight throw) and Adrian Iordan (800 m race) won bronze medals at this competition.
