A mechanism for registering meteorological and hydrological data coming from other data producers than the State Wearer Service, which will be accessible to those interested, will be instituted in Moldova. This way, the authorities aim to ensure reliable and accurate meteorological and hydrological data are disseminated in the public sphere. The Cabinet endorsed the draft law on meteorological and hydrological activities, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Environment said the goal is to institute a legal framework on meteorological and hydrological activities, which is needed for the sustainable socioeconomic development of the country, and to prevent and minimize the impact of meteorological and hydrological phenomena that are dangerous for humans, property and state security.
Minister of Environment Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov said the bill introduces a mechanism for adding all the data producers to the Register of producers of meeotrological and hydrological data and information. This instrument will facilitate the creation of a digitized map of owned stations and posts and the type of performed observations. This could be accessed by any person who wants to independently choose the data producer and to ask for specialized meteorological and hydrological data.
