Digital education to be available to first graders from this September

As of September 1 this year, the first graders will study the digital education module as a component part of the technological education discipline. The necessity of reviewing the school curriculum so that the children are adapted to live and develop in the information age was underlined by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in the Moldova ICT Summit that took place in Chisinau on April 23, IPN reports.

“The IT industry and education are the future of the Republic of Moldova. In the information age, the goal of education is not only to generate knowledge, but to also offer possibilities for the children to invent and discover so that we produce generations able to create, which would show ingeniousness and thinking outside the box”, stated Pavel Filip.

At the same time, a pilot project entitled “Class of the future” will be launched at the Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga”. This will envision the creation of an improvement center outfitted with last-generation equipment.

The Premier also spoke about the strategy Digital Moldova 2020 – Development of IT Infrastructure, digital content, digital skills and ensuring of cyber security. The IT Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Strategy is another important document. For the purpose, there were created the first IT Park in Moldova and opened Tekwill ICT Excellence Centers. Similar centers are to be opened in Balti, Cahul and Chisinau.

Moldova ICT Summit 2018 bought together over 400 participants. The event is staged by the Moldovan Association of ICT Companies in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, with support from USAID and the Government of Sweden.
