Difficult situation in children’s hospitals

The number of patients in two of the children’s hospitals in Chisinau is larger than the number of available places, the head of the Health Division Mihai Moldovanu said at Monday’s meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
He said that there are 157 children for 124 beds in the Municipal Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 1, while in the Municipal Clinical Hospital for Contagious Diseases this ratio is 100 beds per 102 patients.
The number of patients increased owing to viral diseases. A number of 1,948 cases of viral infectious diseases, including 13 cases of flu 11 out of which in children, were recorded last week Moldovanu said that the only solution is to redirect the patients to other hospitals.
According to the National Scientific Practical Center of Preventive Medicine, 2,829 cases of acute infections of the respiratory system were recorded last week (March 2-8) in the nine medical points of Moldova. A week earlier, this figure stood at 2,487, while in the same week of 2007-2008 – at 2,083. There were also recorded 37 clinical cases that looked lie flu – 32 cases in children and 5 cases in grownups – as against 6 cases the previous season. There were reported no deaths.
