Vladimir Plahotniuc will most probably not be the PDM’s candidate for Prime Minister, university lecturer Octavian Ticu said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

“All this fuss about the candidacy of Plahotniuc was made intentionally so that the real candidate seems a fluffy rabbit and is accepted unconditionally. Igor Corman is the only person of integrity in the PDM. His leaving of the seat of MP is open to question. Igor Corman is credible outside the country too. The only positive message transmitted by Plahotniuc is about the miserableness of the current political class,” stated Octavian Ticu.

Corneliu Ciurea, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, stated a different opinion. “I think this majority around Plahotniuc wasn’t formed in vain. I think Plahotniuc will be proposed for premiership. The PLDM could support the position of their seven colleagues so as to keep the parliamentary group whole,” he stated.

Anatol Taranu, director of the Center for Political Research and Consultancy “Politicon”, considers the parliamentary majority was created at the instructions of Vladimir Plahotniuc. “Moving from one party to another or leaving the parliamentary group is not something antidemocratic. The goal of such moves is yet important. The latest events show the defection by the 14 MPs from the PCRM and the decision of the seven Liberal-Democratic lawmakers to join the parliamentary majority were determined somehow,” he stated.
