A liter of diesel has topped the 22 lei mark at the pump, as the National Agency for Energy Regulation ANRE announced a 0.18 leu increase for Friday.
Diesel fuel will retail on Friday for a maximum of 22.08 lei per liter. For premium 95 gasoline, a maximum of 25.74 lei per liter has been set.
ANRE explains the recent price increases on a surge in the Platts quotations, a trend supported by rising global demand for petroleum products.
The Platts quote for diesel has increased in recent days by more than $50/tonne, which represents an increase of about 6% compared to its value at the end of last week. In broader terms of reference, since the beginning of July, the price of diesel on international exchanges has increased by about 28%, and that of gasoline by about 19%. At the same time, the price of Brent crude oil has reached over $85/barrel in recent days, or more than 15% up on last month.
