In Moldova, some heads of governmental departments receive monthly salaries of 3-4 thousand euros, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu told diaspora representatives, provoking a rumble in the audience. The subject was "buzzing" in the context of low pensions and derisory salaries that forced the migration of those who would like to work in Moldova under decent living conditions.

During the meeting of PAS MPs with Moldovan citizens in the diaspora, multiple questions were raised, which the current administration is expected to answer by implementing its electoral program.

Moldovans from abroad expressed their indignation that they are greeted as potential villains at Chișinău airport and that shakedowns are often "settled" with a bribe. The COVID pandemic has created additional barriers, which are used by corrupt border officials in order to extort money from passengers. Neither are the bus ticket prices for travelling abroad any clearer.

Moldovans in the diaspora are calling for reintegration programs into Moldovan society, which would be promoted by the state and which would involve business people. The state should have support program for the relatives of the people that left the country - the children and the elderly, particularly in rural areas.

These programs should not pay out money. Money does not change things for the better. The society needs projects that involve people in educational activities, which would encourage them and give them a new taste for life, diaspora representatives said.

Citizens want more accessible consular services. Clearly, the state cannot open specialized offices in every single city. However, consular officials could travel to places with high demand for consular services. The diaspora also addressed the issue of document copies in Moldovan courts. Given that the state has a complete database and any information can be accessed with a single click, requesting hardcopies is unjustified. It is high time to move from words to deeds on the issue of remote/mail/electronic voting, said the event participants.
