The preparations for this year’s Diaspora Days and the DOR program (Diaspora*Origins*Return) are almost done. The 4th edition of Diaspora Days in Moldova will be held between August 18-20, while the 5th edition of the DOR program will take place between 20-28 August, IPN reports.

On August 18, the State Chancellery’s Bureau for Diaspora Relations (BRD) will organize an open doors day at the government. During the event, the Moldovan diaspora in Italy, Russia, Great Britain, Israel and Portugal, as well as the diaspora in the Republic of Moldova itself will be mapped and presented. The Diaspora Excellency Groups will also be introduced.

The government will host a workshop for teachers from Diaspora Education Centers, as well as thematic seminars, including consultations regarding Moldova’s 2030 National Development Strategy, economic programs, opportunities for the successful return and reintegration of migrants, etc.

On August 19, at the 7th edition of the Gustar Music Festival, guests will get a chance to see the exhibition “Moldova from anywhere”, with works authored by diaspora members. On the last day, August 20, the BRD will organize the Diaspora Mini-Football Cup on the field of the Stefan cel Mare Police Academy.

The 5th edition of the DOR program will involve 100 children between 12 and 17 years of age, from 14 countries including Moldova. The program targets second generation migrants with Moldovan origins and aims to strengthen their emotional, cultural and identity bonds with Moldova. This year, the DOR camp will take place in Holercani.

Organizers hope that these events will improve communication between the government and the diaspora, will mobilize the associations of Moldovans abroad and civil society in order to contribute to Moldova’s sustainable development, and to strengthen diaspora capacities by building bridges between them and their brethren at home, regardless of their location.
