As a result of the official visit of a group of Moldovan parliamentarians to Brussels the dialogue’s format with the European Parliament will be extended. This declaration was made in the Chisinau international airport by the head of the Republic of Moldova parliamentary delegation, Speaker Marian Lupu. He mentioned that he will keep sending groups of MPs to Brussels 3-4 times a year, especially those representing the committee for foreign politics and European integration, and the committee for economic policies. Lupu stated that this way an intensive communication will commence with representatives of the most important politic groups of the European Parliament, especially with the European People’s Party, the socialists and the liberals. A communication with the most important committees will also be established. Lupu declared that this was the first official visit of Moldovan parliamentarians to the European parliament, as until now the only communication mean was the RM-EU Parliamentary Co-operation Committee. The speaker also declared that the Transnistrian problem was also discussed during his visit. According to the cited source, during the plenary meeting of the European parliament from next week a resolution draft about the unrecognized referendum will be adopted. European parliamentarians, stated Lupu, expressed their belief that both Russia and other countries involved in the Transnistrian negotiations will not recognize the so-called referendum, and therefore will not recognize the Transnistrian independence. „Everybody understands how dangerous such a precedent would be, as it would affect not only the eastern Moldova’s raions. It would also be a political precedent for a great number of similar conflicts” Marian Lupu concluded. The visit of the Moldovan MPs to Belgium lasted for 3 days. Their program included meetings with representatives of the main committees of the EP, of the European Committee, leaders of all factions from EP, as well as the EP delegation for parliamentary co-operation with the Republic of Moldova, led by Mariane Mikko.
