The president of honor of the Democratic Party (PDM) Dumitru Diacov said the six MPs led by Andrian Candu who left the party several days ago were able to distinguish themselves inside the PDM, not outside it and a compromise could have been reached by intense discussions. At the same time, Andrian Candu said things inside the PDM started to depart from what he considers the correct party development path and thus decided to leave it, IPN reports.

In the talk show “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau, Dumitru Diacov said the party needed time to realize what is going on around. “The Democratic Party is now trying to find its place in this construct. The decisions that will be taken by the PDM will be the PDM’s decisions and they will not be influenced by Igor Dodon or by Moscow, Washington or someone else,” stated the politician.

According to him, the group of Mister Candu had many possibilities of distinguishing themselves inside the PDM, not outside it. Furthermore, given that the former Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc contributed significantly to the development of the party, he enjoyed more tools by which he could keep the Democratic parliamentary group united. “He had different possibilities of discussing, becoming involved. I didn’t see envelopes with money. I didn’t receive such envelopes. I consider these things should be proven. I don’t think the serious people can accept something like this,” said the chairman of the Democratic parliamentary group.

MP Andrian Candu said he felt particular resistance related to the next development stages inside the PDM. “There are people in the current administration of the PDM who have all kinds of discussions with the Party of Socialists, including in secret, and continue with negotiations, conditions and actions to persuade particular persons from the PDM’s team,” he stated.

Andrian Candu noted the decision to leave the party was taken after consulting a number of mates and after seriously analyzing the developments inside the PDM.

Six MPs of the Democratic Party – Andrian Candu, Sergiu Sîrbu, Vladimir Cebotari, Eleonora Graur, Corneliu Padnevici și Grigore Repeshchuk – left the part and its parliamentary group on February 19.
