The diabetics will be able to select the necessary medical devices in drugstores themselves. A bill to this effect was adopted by Parliament after giving it a final reading. The tests and lancets are now bought by the state in a centralized way once a year, IPN reports.
The bill was initiated by the Chicu Government. The diabetics will be able to choose themselves the necessary devices in drugstores and the state will later reimburse the incurred expenses. The bill authors said the centralized acquisitions do not meet the needs of all the patients.
According to statistics of the Ministry of Health, almost 120,000 persons suffered from diabetes mellitus in Moldova in 2018. Each 90th person dies because of complications caused by diabetes.
