Diabetics will have free access to one more model of tests and lancets for monitoring blood glucose as of November 1. These were included in the list of medical devices whose price is covered with mandatory health insurance funds, IPN reports, with reference to the National Health Insurance Company.
The persons with diabetes will be able to choose from among 11 models of tests and eight models of lancets in drugstores. Patients could also receive free a modern model of ostomy and urostomy bags as this device from November 1 will be fully covered by the state. About 500,000 lei will be allocated from the mandatory health insurance funds for covering 100% of the price of this device, up from 50% at present.
The decision to increase the compensation rate and the number of compensated medical devices was taken by the Council for Compensated Medical Devices in a move to improve the insured persons’ access to pharmaceutical products covered by the mandatory health insurance. The given order was published in the Official Gazette on October 27.
