Details about July 7 Botanica blast

The explosion in Botanica district was caused by an F1 grenade. As a result of searches carried out at the home of the man who died, there were found pills similar to psychotropic ones and an improvised device for taking drugs.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the General Police Inspectorate Diana Fetco said the man who died was 60. He was out of work and lived together with his female partner and two daughters. The police also identified the third person with whom the man who died and the injured man drank alcoholic beverages. After the blast, he stood up and went awsy. He is 46 and was questioned by the police.

The injured man is currently at the Emergency Medicine Institute. Contacted by IPN for details, the Institute’s spokeswoman Dorina Arsene said the man is in the traumatology section. He was admitted in a state of shock and was inebriated. He suffered face, shoulder and sole injures and it is hard for him to walk now.

A criminal case for murder attempt and illegal keeping of munitions was started over the blast that occurred in Botanica district, the Chisinau Police Division has informed.
