As from January 1, resident and nonresident individuals can bring into the Republic of Moldova units of transport declared through action and placed under temporary admission customs regime for a period of up to 180 days during 12 consecutive months, without exception, IPN reports.
This way, following the coming into force of the amendments made to the Customs Code, the provision that the motor vehicles brought into Moldova by private individuals with the domicile in any foreign state, who have a driver’s license issued in the country in which they have the domicile, can stay in Moldova for a period of 180 days to three years was excluded.
This provision was excluded in a move to adjust the national legal framework to the provisions of the Community acquis and of the Convention on Temporary Admission that was signed in Istanbul on June 26, 1990, according to which the private units of transport can stay on the temporary admission period for a continuous period or for six months within 12 months.
