In the case of new local elections, the election campaign starts for each competitor when the district electoral council registers this and ends one day before the election day, IPN has learned from the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Two days ago, the CEC established district councils and is to constitute the district electoral councils of the second level, in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, by March 30. By April 10, there will be created the district electoral councils of the first level, in the villages Leuseni, Nemteni, Volovita, Jora de Mijloc, and Pirlita.
After they are constituted, the district electoral councils will decide the date, place and time when documents will be accepted for registering candidates, informing about these not later than 24 hours of the adoption of the decision. The deadline for the submission of documents for registering candidates for mayor is April 19, 2018.
The district electoral council registers or refuses to register candidates in elections during seven days of the receipt of the presented documents.
