The new regulations that allowed crossing the state border of the Republic of Motiva with Transnistrian cars only if these had neutral-design license plates, accompanied by the distinct sign of the state “MD”, and that were to take effect on January 15 were annulled. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, such a decision was taken because there weren’t taken sufficient measures to inform the citizens from the Transnistrian region about the new regulations, IPN reports.
“In the given situation and given the short period of time until the date proposed initially by the Republic of Moldova for putting the new regulations into practice, it was agreed to put off the implementation date so as to meanwhile work intensely on the informing of car owners from the Transnistrian region, offering them time to comply with the new requirements,” the Ministry stated in a press release.
It also said that the competent authorities will provide additional information about the decisions concerning the implementation of the reached agreements.
