Deputy police commissioner Iacob Gumenita threatens he will sue the servants in charge of sanitation in Chisinau and the economic entities that do not clean the areas around the units that they manage, Info-Prim Neo reports “Today I warn you to start work, but in the future you will be summoned to court for not fulfilling your duties and the promises made to the Chisinau residents,” Gumenita said at Monday’s meeting of the Chisinau City Hall. The deputy commissioner showed several pictures of unauthorized garbage dumps to the Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca. “Even if the police do not cooperate with the City Hall in a number of areas, here I agree with the deputy commissioner. The patience is not boundless. The things were different last year,” the mayor said. Dorin Chirtoaca also said that he is inclined to believe that instructions have been given to sabotage the sanitation process in the municipality, given that the same number of workers coped with the garbage last year. The mayor said that the police should intervene promptly when they identify violations. “You should intervene but inform the services about this and follow that the work is done. I see that the police can inform. I don’t know how they find time to follow me, but don’t have time to follow those that throw garbage,” he said. Dorin Chirtoaca called on the officials in charge of sanitation to bring the waste collection platforms in order. He ordered that the economic entities that do not collect the waste be punished. Dionisie Boaghie, the head of the Housing & Utility Division, said that they worked as usual, with all the staff, including on Saturday and Sunday. He stressed that the workers are not satisfied with their salaries, though these have been raised to 2,000 lei this year.
