Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu visits Czechia

Nicu Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, will pay a working visit to Prague on May 25-26,on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and the Czech Republic. An objective of the visit is to promote the European integration agenda of the Republic of Moldova in the context of the Czech Republic holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of this year, the Moldovan Ministry said în a press release.

In Prague, Moldova’s top diplomat will have a bilateral meeting with the Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, with whom he will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, the security situation in the region in the context of the Ukrainian war, the economic impact on the Republic of Moldova, humanitarian assistance provided by the Czech authorities to the Republic of Moldova for managing the influx of refugees, as well as the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova.

The meeting of the two foreign ministers will also mark the signing of a memorandum of understanding which aims to strengthen the long-term partnership between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Diplomatic Academy of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu will also meet in Prague with the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, the Minister for European Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mikuláš Bek, Senator Pavel Fischer, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense, and local media and international organizations, academic organizations and analytical centers in the field of international relations and European affairs in the Czech Republic.
