The simple motion against Deputy Prime Minister for Social Matters Gheorghe Brega wasn’t supported by Parliament. Only 23 MPs voted to pass it at a time when at least 37 votes were needed for the purpose. The simple motion against Minister of Construction and Regional Development Vasile Batca was also rejected, IPN reports.

Gheorghe Brega refused to report on the work he did, saying he does not intend to repeat what Prime Minister Pavel Filip said several hours earlier. On July 27, Parliament examined also the no-confidence motion against the Filip Government. “I would advise those who propose such motions not to resort to cheap PR, but to better suggest solutions to the country’s problems,” stated the Deputy Prime Minister.

Answering MPs’ questions, Gheorghe Brega confirmed that Moldova could be involved in an international scandal as it is suspected of being the largest supplier of dopes to Russia. The lack of constitutional control over the eastern districts is a cause of this phenomenon.

In the case of the second motion, only 22 MPs voted for the dismissal of Vasile Batca. A minimum of 37 votes was needed in this case too. The Socialists said that owing to the lack of a clear image of the local infrastructure, the development process in the country is chaotic. According to them, Minister Vasile Batca forgot about the promises he made, while the funds allocated for regional development are spent inefficiently.
