Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov had a meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador in Moldova Serghei Pirojkov in connection with the working visit that Victor Osipov will pay to Ukraine in May, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the Government’s press service says Victor Osipov spoke about the participation of the Moldovan delegation in the Europe-Ukraine forum that took place recently in Kiev, saying the European integration is a common objective for the two neighboring countries. Osipov suggested examining the possibility of organizing a similar forum in Chisinau
Victor Osipov told the Ukrainian ambassador that he hopes the joint Russian-Ukrainian statement on the Transnistrian conflict settlement that will be signed in May by Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev and Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukoviych will contribute to the resumption of the talks in the 5+2 format.
Ambassador Serghei Pirojkov said his country is in favor of respecting Moldova’s territorial integrity when agreeing a solution to the conflict, taking into account the interests of the population of Transnistria.
