Deputy Premier Popescu on working visit to Cairo

Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, is paying a working visit to Cairo. This is the first visit by a high-ranking Moldovan official to Egypt since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on February 13, 1992, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

The Moldovan official will have meetings with the Speaker of the Senate of Egypt Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Hassan Shoukry, and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi. The interlocutors will discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between Moldova and the Arab Republic of Egypt. At the end of the bilateral consultations, the foreign affairs ministers of the two states will give a joint news conference.

Nicu Popescu will take part in the Egypt – Moldova Economic Forum that will be held on the occasion of the Moldovan delegation’s working visit. The event is organized by the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova and USAID Moldova and will bring together representatives of the business communities of the two states, including 20 representatives of the Moldovan business community.

The official delegation also includes Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea, secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy Vadim Gumene and director general of the National Food Safety Agency Radu Musteața.
