The British authorities firmly support the Republic of Moldova on the path of reforms, European modernization and building of resilience to the experienced challenges, said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, who is visiting London where he met with his British counterpart James Cleverly, IPN reports.
The interlocutors conferred on the security developments caused by the war of aggression against Ukraine and the consequences generated by this for the Republic of Moldova, including at European security and energy levels.
Nicu Popescu said that the UK will continue to assist the Republic of Moldova in strengthening its capabilities in the areas of internal affairs, defense and building of resilience to hybrid threats. At commercial-economic level, the mutual benefits of the free trade zone are being adjusted for the purpose of stimulating investment in both of the states.
“I noted the common interest in developing and further extending the strategic Moldovan-British relations, including for the benefit of our large diaspora. In the discussions with the minister’s team, I underlined the necessity of advancing in the conversion of driver’s licenses and in the development of initiatives in cybersecurity,” stated the Moldova official, noting that he congratulated James Cleverly on his reappointment as foreign minister and wished him success.
