The Parliament adopted a bill on the central public administration in the first reading. The lawmakers proposed including the terms ‘state secretary’ and ‘deputy director’ in the new law instead of ‘deputy minister’ and ‘vice director’. The proposal was accepted by the author of the bill – the Ministry of Justice, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the March 22 sitting of the legislative body, Deputy Minister of Justice Vladimir Grosu said that the bill is aimed at removing the shortcomings from the activity of the ministries and public institutions. “This initiative will clearly define the duties and tasks of the ministries and other central authorities and will contribute to excluding the doubling of the surveillance and inspection duties,” said the official. Vladimir Grosu explained that a number of ministries now have similar powers and responsibilities and confusion appears as to who should fulfill certain tasks. Tudor Deliu, of the Liberal Democratic parliamentary group, said that there has been a legislative vacuum as regards the central public administration. The bill was passed in the first reading by a majority of votes.
