Deputy minister of economy Valeriu Triboi was placed under house arrest for 30 days. The judgment was passed by the Chisinau Court on April 3, IPN reports.
Prosecutor Dorin Compan said the decision to place the functionary under house arrest was determined both by the circumstances of the case and by the state of health of the accused.
Valeriu Triboi didn’t take part in the hearing. His lawyer Pavel Turcan said there was presented no evidence showing that the deputy minister should be placed under house arrest. Valeriu Triboi pleads not guilty.
The deputy minister was arrested as a result of searches carried out at the Ministry of Economy on March 31. He is suspected of abuse of power and causing of considerable damage to the state budget.
