Deputy mayor of Chisinau Mihai Furtuna quits

The deputy mayor of Chisinau Mihai Furtuna renounced the post as he decided to become municipal councilor, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihai Furtuna will serve on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) as part of the Liberal-Democratic team. A contest will be held to fill the position of deputy mayor. In last summer’s local elections, the Liberal-Democratic Party won seven seats on the CMC. Mihai Furtuna was the seventh on the party’s list. Under the legislation, the post of deputy mayor and the seat of municipal councilor are incompatible. Mihai Furtuna was to choose one of the posts long ago, but until now the CMC could not have deliberative meetings to consider this decision. Mihai Furtuna had held the post of deputy mayor of Chisinau municipality since 2001.
