The deputy mayor of Balti municipality Leonid Babii, who served as mayor on an interim basis since January 3, handed in his resignation. Mayor of Balti Renato Usatyi, who has been in Moscow for over a year, on a social networking site wrote that Leonid Babii vacated his seat for health reasons, IPN reports.
“I want to sincerely thank all the members of the Balti Municipal Council and all the employees of the mayor’s office with whom I worked during the past three years. A lot of good things were done,” Leonid Babii stated for a local TV channel.
Leonid Babii took over as mayor of Balti municipality after the Balti Municipal Council in an extraordinary meeting on January 3 took cognizance of the resignation tendered by deputy mayor of Balti Igor Sheremet, who served as acting mayor until then.
In the meeting of the Balti Municipal Council scheduled for February 8, the councilors are to consider Leonid Babii’s resignation. The municipality of Balti remained now only with one deputy mayor of three. This is Lilia Sava.
