Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu denied the information that the restaurant Malina Koktail House, also known as Aerocafe, at Sun City mall was an unauthorized construction. Nistor Grozavu said that a few years ago when the construction was erected, it was intended as a passage over Pushkin Street, and it had been coordinated with the Civil Protection Service. When the mall's administration saw that the passage was little used, it was decided to transform it into a restaurant, with all the documentation required, says the deputy mayor. He guesses the fire could have been caused by an overheated power wiring. Constructions of this type are easily flammable, but are not dangerous, said Grozavu. Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service spokesperson Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that over 40 firefighters on 8 fire engines intervened to put out the flames. The firefighters evacuated eight persons from the restaurant and no one was hurt, except for a firefighter who suffered a burn to his arm.
