Judoka Denis Vieru scored a victory at the Grand Slam held in Abu Dhabi, IPN reports.
In the 66 kg weight class, he beat France’s Franck Vernez, but was then defeated by Azerbaijan’s Nijat Shikhalizada, who reached the final. Tal Flicker of Israel emerged victorious.
In the 81 kg class, Nicon Zaboroshchuk and Dorin Gotonoaga were eliminated after the first fight. Zaboroshchuk lost to Sami Chouchi of Belgium, while Gotonoaga to Georgia’s Zebeda Rekhviashvili, who will struggle for bronze.
