Judoka Denis Vieru has won a bronze medal at the European Judo Championships of Prague. The 24-year-old athlete scoured four victories in the 66 kg class, IPN reports.
Vieru first beat Ireland’s Nathon Burns and Spain’s Alberto Gaitero, but then lost to Serbia’s Strahinja Buncic. In the runoffs, Vieru defeated Germany’s Sebastian Seidl, while in the match for the bronze medal won against Vazha Margvelashvili of Georgia, who beat him in the small final of the Minsk European Games last year.
Denis Vieru has big chances of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics of next year. He takes the 26th spot in the world rankings.
