Judokas Denis Vieru and Victor Sterpu were eliminated in the first round of the China Masters, IPN reports.
World No. 2 in the 66 kg eight class, Denis Vieru, went to Qingdao even if he hasn’t fully recovered from a respiratory tract infection. In the first battle, he met Israel’s Tal Flicker, who won bronze at the 2017 World Championships and at the 2018 European Championships. Flicker won in four minutes.
Victor Sterpu (73 kg) lost to Zhansay Smagulov of Kazakhstan who competed in the Rio Olympic Games.
