The Democratic Party intends to form a parliamentary majority as soon as possible so as to “stabilize the situation in the country, put an end to uncertainty and start addressing people’s needs”, stated PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc following a round of talks called by President Igor Dodon.

Vlad Plahotniuc didn’t say who the Democrats intend to form the majority with exactly, stating that his party was “open to dialog with all the political parties that want to avoid a political crisis and, consequently, a socioeconomic crisis that could ensue because of this standoff”.

Plahotniuc added that it wouldn't be the Democrats’ fault if things get pushed towards snap elections. “We the Democrats are open to political dialogue, are flexible and have a firm determination to form a stable and responsible government”, declared Vlad Plahotniuc.

Commenting on NOW’s proposal to form a minority government with Maia Sandu as Prime Minister and  Andrei Năstase as Speaker, Vlad Plahotniuc said a parliamentary majority built on clear principles must come first.
